Final Night…you've arrived too quickly

So this will be my final set of thoughts about a city as my trip winds down to a close tomorrow. I am going to be flying back to Toronto in the afternoon after having explored 6 cities in 10 days. That's no small feat.

The first thing I would have to say about London is, I wish I had more time here. It is such a giant and diverse city. It has a rich back story, with a multitude of different cultures today living together combined with having a distinct English  flair. British people are similar to Canadians in many ways.

Most are polite and courteous, with your occasional obnoxious fellow of course. For the most part, I've found the majority to be very pleasant. Not to mention, the English accent is very easy on the ears. It's like they're singing the words of the English language as opposed to saying them. Absolutely marvellous (*english accent*)!

I knew there was a lot to see, but I was also running on fumes today having had very little sleep the night before. So I did the best I could in covering the major parts of the city and participating in another free walking tour. Unfortunately this one wasn't by the Sandeman company and wasn't nearly as good as the other ones. So I did what I do best, I left and walked around myself.

I got to see the following:

  1. Buckingham Palace

  2. Prince's Mansion (apparently they only get one if they're married, Harry's not, so he doesn’t have one)

  3. Rich area of London (120M pound apartments, crazy!)

  4. Covent Gardens (Apple store yay!)

  5. London Bridge

  6. Big Ben

  7. Tower Bridge

  8. King's Cross Station

  9. Trafalgar and Leicester Squares

  10. Bunch of clubs/bars/pubs

In addition to which, I made some time to visit some extended family that lived in the suburbs of London near Wembley Stadium. I really wanted to see Wembley stadium cause that's where all the FIFA matches are played. (Yes, it's my friend's and I's favourite game on PS4)

It was nice catching up with them, getting a home cooked meal, and hearing first hand what it's like to live in London especially post Brexit.

The country is going through a tumultuous time, however time will tell if they'll come out on top.

Overall, I feel pretty solid about having seen as much as I did in the limited time I had left. I count this one to be a success, but definitely will stay for a longer time when I have a chance to come back.

I'll have one final post to conclude the trip where I'll go in to answering:

  1. Why did I do this trip?

  2. Why go Solo?

  3. What I've learned.

Until then, I leave you with pictures of the beautiful city of London, England.
